The 1% for the Planet logo with a blue globe background and text stating 1% for the Planet Member.

We are proud to announce that our 1% for the Planet giving for 2025 has now been certified!

In the last year as a full Business Member of the 1% for the Planet programme we have given 1% of our annual sales revenue directly to grassroots environmental partners doing vital work to make the world a better place. As a café with sustainability at our heart that relies on nutritious, clean produce from land & sea we feel passionately that it is our duty to support the planet as it supports us as a business and as individuals.

The 1% for the Planet model is designed to create personalised giving strategies and create powerful partnerships between businesses and environmental nonprofits to ensure the most impact possible. Working with our sustainability consultants Natural Distinction, we have been able to achieve this and find the right partners to support.

This year the partners we have supported are: Protect the West Coast, Protect our Winters UK, and Tir Natur. We have a clear meaning behind each partnership and are incredibly proud to be able to support them and to continue to work with them beyond monetary support to try to create even more positive impact.

Protect the West Coast

Protect the West Coast (PTWC) are a Cape Town-based South African notforprofit organisation founded in 2020 by a team of concerned citizens – including surfers, scientists, legal professionals, journalists, and activists – dedicated to stopping illegal and environmentally destructive mining on the Cape West Coast. As a seaside café who are passionate about the health of our coastlines and waterways this cause means a lot to us.

By fighting destructive mining the team are not only safeguarding the rich biodiversity and ecological integrity of the area but also helping to preserve the rich cultural heritage – aspects that must go hand in hand.

We are proud to support the PTWC vision of a resilient and thriving West Coast for future generations. Learn more about PTWC and support them here – https://protectthewestcoast.org/.

Protect our Winters UK

Protect Our Winters UK (POW UK) is a UKregistered outdoor climate action charity founded in 2017 that mobilises the outdoor sports community—from skiers and snowboarders to climbers, mountain bikers, hillwalkers and surfers—to become effective climate advocates. They do this by delivering community education and engagement programmes, providing organisational climate action support, and campaigning for systemic policy solutions.

Many of our patrons and staff are passionate outdoor enthusiasts and with us being a stone’s throw away from the stunning Eryri National Park the mountains are never too far from our minds. As the climate emergency takes hold, we share POW’s view that the time to act is running out and as part of the outdoor community it is our responsibility to act and be a powerful force for change.

Tir Natur

Tir Natur is a Welsh charitable organisation founded in 2022 dedicated to largescale rewilding in Cymru with a vision to see a Wales where communities and wild nature thrive together. As a Welsh business that is proud of our location the opportunity to support Wales’ first large-scale rewilding project was unmissable.

Tir Natur is taking a new approach to nature recovery in Wales that maximises biodiversity and bio abundance. This approach constructs natural carbon cycles and, crucially, it works at scale. It aims to restore ecosystems as much as possible so that nature can take care of itself and determine its own course. This is rewilding.

The natural ecosystems will be restored through native trees, peatland regeneration and “natural grazing” by ancient Welsh cattle, ponies and pigs. The flagship project, backed by ambassador Iolo Williams, aims to rewild over 1,000 acres and serve as Wales’ leading ecological restoration showcase.
